Giving Tuesday is a global day of generosity that happens every year on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving. It’s a time for people to come together to support causes they care about, whether by donating money, volunteering, or simply spreading kindness. Created in 2012, Giving Tuesday encourages everyone to make a positive impact in their communities and the world, showing that small acts of giving can create big change.
At Matrix Partners, we’re passionate about pets and dedicated to supporting animal rescues. That’s why Giving Tuesday is one of our favorite days of the year! In 2023, we spotlighted Chicago Canine Rescue and Second City Canine Rescue’s foster programs, along with other Chicagoland nonprofits, to inspire others to make an impact and become involved in their communities. We hope to do the same this holiday season by hosting a fundraiser for Tender Loving Care (TLC) Animal Shelter in honor of Matrix Partners’ late office pet, Bella. TLC was founded on April 1, 1974 to help abused, abandoned, and unwanted animals find loving forever homes. They help save around 2,500 animals a year that are in need.
When she was just 5 weeks old, Bella was placed in a box with her siblings and dropped off on the front steps of TLC in Homer Glen, IL. Scared and abandoned, little Bella had no idea that her life was about to change for the better. When Kristy laid eyes on her, she immediately fell in love and adopted her on the spot. Bella had finally found her forever home, where she was showered with an abundance of love. She lived her life to the fullest alongside her nurturing brothers, Cody (a golden lab), and humans Dimitri and Drew. Although she was outnumbered by boys, Bella shined as the leader of the pack, always taking care of them.
Bella was always an extra smart girl and quick to learn any new trick – in exchange for treats, of course! Whenever she visited the Matrix Partners office, she greeted everyone with her friendly smile, earning the honorary title of “Office Dog Mom.” After living 16 years filled with so much love and affection from those around her, Kristy heartbreakingly had to say goodbye to Bella this past October.
To honor Bella’s memory, Matrix Partners is proudly supporting TLC with a Giving Tuesday fundraiser. To make an even greater impact, we will be matching all donations up to $1,000.00 now through December 31, 2024.
