When Hound & Gatos was acquired by Gott Pet Products in 2018, it was known as the Original Paleolithic Pet Food Company. Matrix Partners’ challenge was to broaden the brand’s appeal and make it relevant to a new generation of pet parents. After conducting numerous consumer focus groups, we crafted a 3-year relaunch plan, repositioning Hound & Gatos as the premier high animal protein, real meat – no meat meals brand. We redesigned the logo and packaging for two wet and three new dry lines. Then we created a custom trade show booth debuting the new look for the brand. We also designed an array of POS and sell-in materials, orchestrated engaging social media, influencer marketing and email programs, and developed compelling sample kits that were shipped to the retail trade. Since the relaunch, Hound & Gatos sales continue to grow in spite of the recent retailer challenges – a sure sign that our planning and implementation was successful.
